Great Sadness

During the course of our many adoptions we have experienced several lost referrals.  Although it was frustrating, I never really felt grief or sadness about loosing a referral.  We knew for whatever reason God had a plan for our family and we were trusting in Him.  This week we experienced a different kind of loss.

Many of you do not know that we have actually been in the process of adopting TWO children.  We could not announce our referral of Daniel until we were given approval by China to adopt him.  Daniel was 10 months old and also had Down Syndrome.  Friday I received a call from our adoption agency, our baby Daniel had passed away.  I never expected to feel so much sadness.  Although we had never met him, he was already a part of our family.   We loved him.  Many tears have been shed.  The one thing that brings us peace is knowing that Daniel is now in the arms of his Heavenly Father.  We can’t wait to meet him some day in Heaven.

  3. I am so very sorry - my 91 year old uncle also passed away, early yesterday morning, and my family is also grieving, but it is especially tragic when a little child dies. What a sweet little face he had...I know he was yours in your heart, if not in your arms.

Love transcends this world and can pass to and from the next, in my experience. So the love you bore for your little boy will continue eternally, and he will experience not only that love but the love of God eternally. I hope that knowledge will provide some comfort during this very hard time.

    Thinking of you,
    Susan, also in Ky

  4. I'm so very sorry for your loss. I had seen Daniel's photo on an agency's site (probably the one you're using :) )and thought how precious he looked! May the One who is holding sweet Daniel now, comfort your hearts during this loss.

  6. I am so sorry! We lost a little one too in China. It was tough for us all. You can see at www.journeytomalia.blogspot.com . We ended up with www.bringinghomenaomi.blogspot.com and could not be happier. Many times I thought why me? And then I realized why not me? I have not experienced that before and I know how others feel now. May God bless your journey to Dakota-----the cutest girl in the WORLD!!!

  7. I "found" your blog tonight through the babies post on RQ. I wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. Our son, Seth, died in November in Kunming. He had five heart defects. We are still grieving his loss but are finding God most faithful. We have PA for a new little boy and were DTC yesterday. Still, some days are really hard. I will be praying for your peace and comfort in these days.
    Much love~

  8. I found your blog through RQ too, and just wanted to tell you how sorry I am about Daniel. I totally understand how you could be sad at the death of a child you have never brought home. We are blessed with two amazing, precious girls from China and even before we had their pictures they were ours and loved as one of our own. Praying for peace, comfort and God's provision for you during this season of grief and in restoring of hope for a future. I'm so glad you know that you will be with Daniel someday in Heaven.
