No, Faith did not get punched in the face. Faith has frequently had hives since the day we meet her. At first, we assumed it was probably stress related but it has progressively gotten worse. After she woke up from nap one day, looking like the picture above, I decided it was time for some allergy testing. Well, the verdict is in and Faith is allergic to most of what I feed her. After the test results we played around with her diet and have come to the follow conclusion. Faith is allergic to milk, eggs, tomato, potato, chicken, peanuts, corn, peas. There were a few others foods that she tested positive for that we do not normally eat. Although she has not had what I would consider a major reaction causing breathing issues her reactions have become more frequent and more severe. SOOOO, I am going to have to make some changes to our menu. If anyone has any great recipes(allergen free) or advice please feel free to share.

  1. Rebecca,
This is Cara from church - we have the little boy Silas from China. Our daughter Caroline has food allergies. At one point we avoided soy, nuts, eggs, corn, most meats and dairy. She has outgrown all of it except for the dairy. Please feel free to e-mail me at caragroth(at)alltel(dot)net. I'll be happy to share some recipes and advice. I have learned A LOT about food allergies.

  2. So sorry, Rebecca! The poor thing looks so uncomfortable! I"m a terrible cook, so I don't have any suggestions, but I wonder if, just like you introduce foods one at a time with infants in case of allergy, if you fed her one of those allergen foods at a time to see which ones caused the bad reactions it that wouldn't help. We have friends whose kids are allergic to milk technically, but usually there is no reaction; just hyper-activity occassionally from it. Avoiding everything on that list will be a challenge! We're praying for her and you!
